Bentley on VAG-konserniin kuuluva loistoautoja valmistava merkki. Sen historia alkaa 1910-luvulta. Sen on perustanut brittiläiset Walter Owen ja Horace Bentley -veljekset. Aluksi yritys toi ranskalaisia DFP-autoja Englantiin. Bentley-nimen yritys sai vuonna 1919.
Bentleyn ensimmäinen oma auto valmistui vuonna 1919. Siinä oli 3-litrainen, nelisylinterinen, 16-venttiilinen moottori. Tehoa moottori antoi 65 hv.
Bentley on alkuajoistaan lähtien ollut aktiivisesti mukana autourheilussa. Jo 1920-luvulla Bentleyllä voitettiin useita kilpailuja, mm. Le Mansin 24 tunnin ajot. Bentley oli myös mukana rikkomassa nopeusennätyksiä.
1930-luvulla yritys kuitenkin ajautui taloudellisiin vaikeuksiin ja omistus siirtyi Rolls-Roycelle. Vuonna 1946 tuotantotoiminta siirrettiin Creween, jossa autot on siitä lähtien valmistettu. Vuonna 1998 VAG osti Rolls-Roycen, jolloin Bentleyn omistus siirtyi nykyiselle omistajalleen.
Bentleyllä ei tällä hetkellä ole virallista maahantuojaa Suomessa. Suomeen tuodut autot on hankittu ruotsalaisen maahantuojan välityksellä.
